The Murphys

William Murphy, was born circa 1800 in Cloonglasney, Ardagh, Co. Mayo.  He like many of his counterparts was a tenant farmer.  No records for Ardagh exist much before 1864 so dates for births and marriages are only supposed.  He married Barbara Gillespie, from Cloonagh Mor or Cloonneigh, Ardagh on the 4th of February 1827William and Barbara had the following known children but they probably had more.

A.            Catherine Murphy, she was born circa 1831.  She married circa 1855/1856 Patrick Finnerty, Behybaun.  She died in September 1899.  The couple had the following children (named above in the Finnerty branch).

B.            William Murphy, he was born circa 1845.  He married Mary Heavy (Heady) born circa 1852.  They lived first in Cloonglasney, Ardagh, and then moved to Clonagh Mor after their marriage.  William died sometime between 1899 and 1900.  Here is the entry for his family from the 1901 census.
